One with Nature An Engagement shoot at Mt. Daraitan Tanay Rizal
This couple loves outdoor activity, camping, hiking so I consider a place that will suit their lifestyle and personality. Mt. Daraitan and tinipak river was the perfect place for this shoot considering theirs both from Rizal. Tinipak is a dazzling, naturally sculptured marble formations and the river was taintless and gleaming.
Whenever I’m shooting outdoors I always check the weather and geographical map of the area to know where my light source which is the sun. Lighting is vital in creating photographs so I have to know where the sunrise and where it will set. My concept for this shoot was catching the morning light rays or the fog dropping from the sky. We meet at Barangay Sampaloc Tanay Rizal which was a few kilometers away from Mt. Daraitan. The view was breathtaking but it was thin and aeriform rain and the lighting condition was awful when we get there. Well as a photographer you have to be prepared and adjust to every situation when shooting outdoors. So we waited for a while for the rain to stop and the sun to show up to light my subject. The enthusiasm of this couple to get the perfect shot was inspiring. Using a ladder they climb a ten-foot rock and we get this shot.
I looked for another spot which I can connect them to nature and use a different kind of composition. A compelling background of mountain and river made this shot momentous and memorable. This was the most view photograph in their gallery on my website
Behind the scene
One thing I’ve learned from this shoot was whatever planning or preparation you make you have to adapt to the situation and condition when shooting outdoor. The weather can change at any given time and you have to coordinate and fast to get the perfect shot.
Here are a few travel guides to Mt. Daraitan and how you can reach this nature paradise.
1) If you're commuting from the south stopover, crossing in Mandaluyong, then from there you can ride a UV express van, in front of Star mall, you can also ride a jeepney located beside the Star mall or at the basement. Another way is by EMBC Bus located along San Miguel Ave. going to Tanay Rizal. Take note that this Trasport terminal can change. When you reach Tanay Rizal go directly to the palengke area where the bus, van or Jeepney stops. Then ride the jeepney going to Brgy. Sampaloc, jeepney ride is way cheaper than a tricycle ride.
2) If you're commuting from the north stop over Cubao then look for the jeepney or UV express van going to Cogeo in Antipolo city. From there you will ride again another jeepney going to Brgy. Sampaloc Tanay Rizal. I also suggest this route if you have your own car going there. Instagramable scenery awaits you while traveling. When you reach Brgy. Sampaloc you ride a tricycle going to Brgy. Daraitan, from there you need to register and have a tour guide to explore the area.
